Turn sport recognition into an active guessing game with Which Sport Am I? , a fun and easy-to-use P.E. activity where students move, freeze, pair up, and bring sports to life through clues and mime.
Students travel around the space while the music plays. When the music stops, they freeze, find a safe partner, and begin a quick guessing challenge. One student describes or silently mimes a sport, while the other tries to guess it. After the answer is revealed, both students perform a short “signature move” from that sport.
This game is simple to set up, easy to repeat, and full of movement. It works beautifully as a warm-up, a sport vocabulary activity, a creative movement task, or a fun transition between lessons.
Children practice moving safely, stopping on cue, communicating with a partner, using their imagination, and recognizing sports through movement and clues. The game also gives students the chance to be expressive, observant, and playful while staying active.
Which Sport Am I? is especially useful for:
- introducing or reviewing different sports
- practicing locomotor movements and freeze cues
- encouraging respectful partner communication
- building confidence through mime and movement
- adding creativity and fun to P.E. lessons
The resource also includes playful variations such as whole-class guessing, freeze-frame sport poses, slow-motion or fast-forward replays, and shadow sport guessing.
A simple, active, and joyful P.E. game that gets students moving, thinking, and smiling.
